My experience with AoA
Well in an earlier post of mine ‘Army of Awesome, Support Mozilla Firefox by helping twitter users’ I posted how one can get involved with AoA, i.e., Army of Awesome. I have been with AoA since March, and in this post I would like to share my experience on AoA.
In March, we had one Mozilla event in our campus in which Mozilla Rep Sujith Reddy told us about Open Source, Mozilla & ways to support Mozilla like AoA, Support Forum etc. The moment I heard term ‘Army of Awesome’, it looked great to me. He also added that if will be active on AoA, then he will be providing us swags J. Then I thought to get started with AoA. But I have not used Twitter much at that time, so I created new account on Twitter and started tweeting for AoA. Since I used to tweet a lot with #fxhelp, many times my twitter account was also suspended, about which I asked on Mozilla India’s mailing list also. Anyhow I reached in the top contributors list. And within a month I reached on the ‘Top contributors last week’ list. I am glad to share that I was there in this list for most of time, and held position in top three for more than 3 month.
Best thing I liked with AoA is that we get many people who love or hate firefox. I was able to convince few of Mozilla haters to use Mozilla products. I helped so many people who were having troubles with their firefox. I appreciated many people who loved and used firefox. I got many new friends with AoA.
I was appreciated by providing AoA Badge, and also few swags by Sijith Reddy. Truly speaking it has become passion for me now. I spend at least half an hour daily on AoA (even in my exams I could not stop tweeting).
